Band & Music

The Marching Band meets during 8th period at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, and practices before or after school during selected times of the year. The band competes in a number of events during the year both within the school and outdoor events within the state. Music will meet during the school day and participate in school events much as the band does. Practices may extend to outside the class time.

Students learn organizational skills, comminuication skills, and study skills to better help them in their academic lives. The goal of AVID is to offer support and mentorship to students who want to make the most out of their time in school. Students will also be able to do research on colleges they would like to attend and go on field trips throughout the year to get a hands on opportunity to better understand what colleges look for in applicants.

Selected students are given leadership roles throughout the school. The students learn how to be responsible and are role models for many other students at school. The students perform many civic duties throughout the community and represent the best of TJ to the rest of the world.
