OVERVIEW
Thomas Jefferson Middle School Athletics prides itself on being an educational-based athletics program. Meaning, we teach our student-athletes the importance of being students before athletes. Therefore, student-athletes at TJMS are held to very high academic and behavioral standards. Student-athletes must maintain a minimum 2.0 G.P.A, have no active referrals, and must exemplify outstanding citizenship to both staff and students on/off campus at all times in order to maintain their athletic eligibility. Student-athletes who successfully make it through our competitive tryout process will have the opportunity to participate in the following sports: (Fall) flag football, JV girls volleyball, Varsity girls volleyball, (Winter) JV girls basketball, Varsity girls basketball, JV boys basketball, Varsity boys basketball, girls soccer, boys soccer, wrestling, (Spring) softball, baseball, and boys volleyball. Throughout the athletic season, Thomas Jefferson student-athletes will not only develop the skills needed to be high school ready athletes, but they will also gain valuable life skills such as leadership, communication, teamwork, and how to win and lose with grace. Additionally, TJMS student-athletes will get the opportunity to represent the city of Wasco and travel and play against other schools in the S.Y.A.A. (South Yosemite Athletic Association) including Palm Ave. Middle School, Richland Jr. High, McFarland Jr. High, Richgrove, Earlimart, Wonderful College Prep Academy, Almond Tree Middle School, Pioneer Middle School, Cecil Avenue Middle School, and La Vina Middle School.
